Persona Q...Finally

After many hours of grinding my characters levels and collecting most of the items needed in order to make the different weapons and armor, I was finally able to complete Persona Q. I really loved this game. There were definitely some(a lot) of times when I despised it. It isn't a game for the faint of heart.

Throughout the entirety of the game you have to fight your way through different floors of the dungeons. While doing this, you have to create your own map. At first I was just noting where the walls were, and maybe adding in an extra note or too, but it definitely wasn't very detailed. As I made it further in, I realized as much detail as I could add would be extremely useful. Knowing what you're going to be up against when you haven't played in a couple of days made it much easier to keep moving forward, instead of feeling like I wasn't getting anywhere.

The final boss had a really interesting death counter mechanic. If none of your characters currently have the death counter the boss puts it on all of your characters. There are ways of dealing with this however, it's not just waiting to die. While you can just wait for a character to die and then ressurect them, this isn't a very good strategy. When all five of your characters have died and been ressurected none of them have a counter and the boss will just cast it again. Another way to deal with it is by using resurection spells or items. These can either add 1 or 2 to your countdown depending on how much health you would normally get back upon resurrection.

In comparison to other Persona/Shin Megami Tensei games, the RNG in this wasn't nearly as bad. In my experience Persona is a step down from the other Shin Megami Tensei games, but this was even more of a step down. There were only a few times when I really felt like the RNG was the reasoning for my failures instead of me not being strong enough, or not doing the right strategy for the situation I was in.
